Silverwood Theme Park, Amusement park in Athol, United States
Silverwood Theme Park is an amusement facility in Athol, Idaho, covering a forested area with more than 70 rides distributed across multiple zones, including four roller coasters and a dedicated water park called Boulder Beach. The grounds combine traditional carousel-style attractions with modern high-speed installations and offer separate areas for different age groups and intensity levels.
An entrepreneur named Gary Norton opened the facility in 1988 on a former airfield site, beginning with carnival rides and a historic steam locomotive. Over the following decades, he gradually expanded the offerings to include larger roller coasters and a separate water area.
The facility hosts seasonal celebrations throughout the year, with military appreciation events during summer months and Halloween evenings in October forming key moments in the annual calendar. The autumn nights transform the grounds into a themed environment with special lighting and adapted attractions for guests.
The location sits roughly 47 miles north of Spokane along Highway 95 and operates during summer months as well as select autumn weekends. Visitors will find multiple food stands and restaurants on site, along with zones of varying intensity suitable for children and adults.
A working steam railway circles the entire park grounds on its own track and takes roughly half an hour to complete the full loop. The locomotive dates back to when the site still operated as an airfield and now carries guests instead of cargo.
