Rotary Centre for the Arts, Arts center in downtown Kelowna, Canada.
The Rotary Centre for the Arts is a large cultural building in downtown Kelowna housing multiple spaces for performance and creation. It contains a theater, artist studios, exhibition galleries, a dance studio, a cafe, and meeting spaces for events.
The center opened in 2002 as a result of a major community initiative supported by government funding. Its construction incorporated beams salvaged from the original Growers Building that previously occupied the site.
Eight artist studios inside provide local creators with space to display and sell their work throughout the year. The studios give visitors a chance to see working artists and explore their creations directly.
The center is accessible for various types of visits from art workshops to theater performances and private events. Its downtown location makes it easy to reach and the building features distinct zones for different kinds of activities.
The building itself tells a story of preservation and reinvention through the reuse of materials from its past. This blend of old and new is visible in the structure and gives it a distinct character.
