St Hubertus & Oak Bay Estate Winery, Family estate winery in Kelowna, Canada
St Hubertus & Oak Bay Estate Winery is a family-owned winery in Kelowna that stretches across a large vineyard area along Okanagan Lake. The wines are made from grapes grown in this region, reflecting the particular climate and soil conditions of the north Okanagan Valley.
The original vineyard was planted in 1928 and ranks among the oldest farming operations in the Okanagan Valley region. Swiss brothers later took over the estate and shaped it through their European winemaking techniques.
Swiss brothers Leo and Andy Gebert brought European winemaking traditions to Canada and planted rare Chasselas grapes here, a white variety from their homeland. Today visitors can see how this European heritage shapes the winemaking approach on site.
Visitors can taste wines during their visit and sample different varieties, with the tasting fee waived when bottles are purchased. The estate sits by the lake and is easy to reach on foot or by car, especially during warmer months.
The winery operates two distinct labels, each representing a different aging method for the wines produced. St Hubertus marks wines that mature in stainless steel tanks, while Oak Bay identifies those aged in French and American oak barrels.
