J. C. Adams Stone Barn

J. C. Adams Stone Barn is a large structure in Montana built from granite and sandstone, measuring about 140 feet long and 40 feet wide. The building is divided into three sections for different farm purposes: one for cattle, one for horses and equipment, and one for wagons and storage.

Swedish stonemasons built this structure in 1885 using stone from a local quarry and bringing in decorative elements from Saint Louis. The building reflects a style that was popular for major construction projects in the mountain region during that era.

The large wooden hayloft floor served as a gathering space where the local community came together to dance and celebrate throughout the years. This role shows how the structure held importance beyond its practical farm use.
