J. C. Adams Stone Barn

The granite and sandstone barn stretches 140 feet in length and 40 feet in width, featuring a wooden horse weathervane at its highest point.

Swedish stonemasons completed this Romanesque Revival structure in 1885, using stone blocks from a local quarry and importing arches from St. Louis.

The expansive hardwood floor in the hayloft became a central gathering place for the community, hosting roller skating events and social dances.

The structure contains three distinct sections: one for cattle, another for horses and tack, and a third for wagons and meat storage.

This building stands as the single Romanesque Revival stone barn located west of the Mississippi River in the United States.
