Anderson Lodge, Historic lodge in Park County, United States.
Anderson Lodge is a two-story wooden structure in the Absaroka Mountains that includes a single cabin room, two log footbridges, a developed spring, and a pole corral. The building complex shows how early forest administrators set up their working base in remote mountainous terrain.
Abraham Archibald Anderson built this structure in 1890 to use as his residence and art studio. He later managed the Yellowstone Forest Reserve from 1901 to 1905, making the lodge an active administrative hub during that period.
The structure represents early forest conservation efforts in the United States through its role as one of the first administrative buildings for forest management.
The lodge sits within the Washakie Wilderness Area of Shoshone National Forest, located east of Meeteetse. The remote setting means visitors should prepare for unpaved trails and mountain weather conditions.
The lodge remains one of the few existing administrative structures connected to the development of the first National Forest in the United States.
