Smith Mansion is a five-story wooden structure in Wapiti Valley that rises through multiple levels with terraces, balconies, and winding staircases. The entire building was constructed from local timber sourced from nearby mountains.

An engineer named Francis Lee Smith started building this residence in 1971 without architectural blueprints and worked on it for over two decades. His ambitious project was interrupted by his death, yet the structure still stands today.

The mansion represents one man's determination to create an extraordinary structure, using logs transported from Rattlesnake Mountain by trucks and horses.

The property sits along the North Fork Highway and is open to visitors during warmer months. Advance notice is recommended to ensure access to the building.

Smith's daughter, Sunny Larsen, maintains the property and seeks funding to restore this unconventional structure that reaches toward the Wyoming sky.
