Robson Glacier

Robson Glacier is a large expanse of ice on the northeast side of Mount Robson in Mount Robson Provincial Park. The ice mass covers several kilometers and shapes the mountain landscape with its bright white surface and deep crevasses.

The glacier area was first documented during early climbing expeditions of Mount Robson in the 1910s. Since then, the ice has changed noticeably like many mountain glaciers in the region.

The Secwepemc people named the surrounding mountain Yexyexéscen, recognizing the natural patterns visible in the rock formations near the glacier.

The glacier is best reached from marked trails near Berg Lake, which are mostly open during the warmer months. Visitors should be prepared for mountain weather and wear appropriate gear.

Glacier meltwater feeds the Robson River, which eventually flows into the Fraser River system. This water connection is an important part of the Canadian Rockies ecosystem.
