Overlander Falls, Waterfall in Mount Robson Provincial Park, Canada.
Overlander Falls is a waterfall in Mount Robson Provincial Park located roughly 1.6 kilometers east of the visitor center. The water drops about 10 meters into a deep pool surrounded by tall trees and moss-covered rocks alongside the Fraser River.
The waterfall takes its name from the Overlanders, gold seekers from the 1860s who traveled through this region of British Columbia in search of fortune. This name preserves the memory of those early pioneers who crossed these remote lands during the gold rush era.
The falls and surrounding area in Mount Robson Provincial Park serve as an educational site about local flora, fauna, and river systems.
Access is via a 500-meter downhill trail from the parking area that is relatively straightforward to navigate. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the paths are dry and easy to walk.
In winter the falls display both flowing water and ice formations at the same time while the surrounding landscape lies covered in snow. This blend of water and ice makes a visit during the colder months particularly memorable.
