Fromme-Birney Round Barn, Round barn in Mullinville, United States.
The Fromme-Birney Round Barn is an 16-sided wooden structure with two interior levels designed to maximize storage and working space. The shape allows for efficient use of the interior while the tall walls provide room for equipment and hay storage.
William Pat Campbell built this structure between 1908 and 1912 as a stable for draft horses during the early farming era. The barn reflects the agricultural needs of that period before large mechanical equipment became standard on farms.
The building shows how Kansas farmers adapted their spaces to accommodate larger farm equipment over time. Visitors can see how the interior layout reflects the practical needs of agricultural work from that era.
The barn is located in rural surroundings and can be explored on foot at your own pace. Wear comfortable shoes since the ground is uneven and interior stairs can be steep in places.
The roof still retains its original ridge caps installed during construction decades ago. Inside, an honor system allows visitors to purchase postcards and souvenirs by leaving payment on their own.
