Quartz Mountain Resort Arts and Conference Center, Resort in Oklahoma
Quartz Mountain Resort Arts and Conference Center is a hotel and conference facility in southwestern Oklahoma offering lodging, art programs, and meeting spaces. The property sits beside Quartz Mountain Lake and includes rooms, cabins, a swimming pool, a 700-seat performance hall, art galleries, studio spaces, and walking trails through rolling hills and rocky terrain.
The area was home to several Native American tribes including the Kiowa, Osage, and Quapaw before they were forced to leave during the 1800s. The site became a state park in 1937 and has housed the Oklahoma Arts Institute since 1978.
The name comes from Quartz Mountain, a distinctive hill shaped by its quartz rock formations that give it a pale appearance. Local artists and artisans regularly display their work in the gallery here, inviting visitors to see and purchase paintings, pottery, and handmade jewelry.
The resort is easily accessible from major highways and many visitors drive from nearby cities or fly to regional airports. Plan your visit with time for hiking trails, art activities, and exploring the lake and natural surroundings at your own pace.
The lake beside the resort was created in 1927 by flooding the small town of Lugert to provide water for nearby Altus. Today it serves as a vital water supply for farms and communities in the region and offers fishing and boating for visitors.
