Old North Tower, University of Central Oklahoma

The Old North Tower features traditional red sandstone architecture with a central tower rising above the main educational structure of the University of Central Oklahoma.

Construction of Old North Tower began in 1892 as the first permanent building for the Territorial Normal School, marking the beginning of higher education in Oklahoma Territory.

The building represents the evolution of education in Oklahoma, serving generations of students from its early days as a normal school to its current role at the University.

Located at 400 East Hurd Street, the building reopened in 2017 following an extensive renovation that added modern amenities including elevators and an amphitheater.

The structure incorporates locally quarried Edmond Red sandstone, which distinguishes the building among other educational institutions of the American frontier period.
