South Point Lighthouse, Cast iron lighthouse in Atlantic Shores, Christ Church, Barbados
The 27-meter-tall cylindrical tower features alternating horizontal bands of white and red paint that mark its exterior structure.
After being exhibited at London's Great Exhibition in 1851, the lighthouse was transported to Barbados in sections and assembled in 1852.
The South Point Lighthouse appears on the reverse side of the Barbadian five-cent coin, representing maritime heritage since 1973.
While the lighthouse grounds remain open to visitors, the tower structure maintains restricted access for safety and preservation purposes.
This structure stands as the last remaining cast iron lighthouse of its type, with only three ever constructed using this material.
