Basilique de l'Immaculée Conception

The Basilique de l'Immaculée Conception is a church with Gothic Revival architecture featuring a straightforward nave, a transept running across the width, and distinctive vertical design elements. The building began construction in 1903 under Father François Steinmetz and was completed in 1909, later receiving minor basilica designation in 1989. Its creation occurred during a period when Portugal was reinforcing its cultural and religious presence along the West African coast.
