Pico da Cruz

Pico da Cruz is a mountain in the eastern section of Santo Antão island with steep slopes and a prominent summit. The peak overlooks deep valleys and coastal views across the surrounding terrain.

The mountain sits within the Cova-Paul-Ribeira da Torre Natural Park, established to protect the area's biodiversity. This designation reflects efforts to conserve the region's natural resources.

The mountain name extends to a nearby village of 138 residents, where small-scale farming practices reflect traditional agricultural methods of the region.

The climb starts from unpaved trails that begin near a nearby village. Local minibus and taxi services transport visitors to the starting points for the ascent.

From the summit you see both rugged inland terrain and open coastal horizons at once. This viewpoint reveals how the mountain ridge connects the island's interior to its seaboard.
