Monte Verde rises to 750 meters above sea level, forming the highest elevation point on São Vicente island with extensive vegetation coverage across its slopes.

The mountain emerged through volcanic processes millions of years ago, creating distinctive geological formations that characterize the Cape Verde archipelago's natural structure.

Monte Verde Natural Park encompasses 3.12 square kilometers of protected land where scientists study 93 different plant species, including 17 types native to São Vicente.

Visitors reach the summit through marked trails starting from Mindelo, requiring sturdy hiking shoes and water supplies for the ascending journey.

The mountain maintains a special microclimate that supports rare plant species like Limonium jovibarba and Sonchus daltonii, found nowhere else in the world.
