Playa Guanábano

Playa Guanábano is a Caribbean beach with white sand and blue water bordered by tall palm trees. The shoreline contains several small coves and a calm inlet that make it easy to explore different sections.

Fishing families have worked these waters since the early 1900s, establishing a maritime heritage that shaped the area. Their long presence turned the place into a known fishing ground within the region.

Local families gather here on weekends to prepare and share traditional seafood meals by the shore. This practice reflects how the beach remains woven into daily social routines.

The beach is easily reached by a paved road from Bayahibe village with parking near the entrance. Early mornings or late afternoons tend to be less crowded, making them better times for a quieter visit.

A natural tidal inlet called Caletón Guanábano creates a sheltered shallow swimming area within the larger beach. This spot is especially popular with families and beginning swimmers because the water stays calm and shallow.
