Le Creux ès Faïes, Neolithic passage tomb in Saint Peter's, Guernsey.
Le Creux ès Faïes is a Neolithic burial chamber where an entrance passage about 8.5 meters long leads into a rounded chamber topped by two large capstones. The structure sits beside the road heading toward the L'Eree headland.
This burial structure dates back to between 3500 and 2000 BC, a period when such tombs were built across the region. Archaeological finds show that human remains, animal bones, pottery, and stone tools were left at the site over time.
Local folklore connects this site to fairy tales and stories of magical beings said to inhabit the area. These legends have shaped how people in Guernsey view and speak about the place today.
The site sits on the right side of the road toward the L'Eree headland and is straightforward to access. Wear sturdy shoes since you will be walking on uneven ground around ancient stones.
The boundary stones at the beginning and end of the structure are still in their original position, marking where this ancient tomb was meant to end. These markers offer a rare glimpse into how the original monument was laid out.
