Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Mongomo

The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception stands as the largest religious structure in Central Africa, with a central position in the municipality of Mongomo.

Italian companies Makinen Venture and Ruffini Decorazioni completed the construction of this religious edifice in 2011, following five years of development.

The interior of the basilica features a replica of Esperanza Macarena from Seville, representing the connection between Spanish and Equatorial Guinean Catholic traditions.

The basilica accommodates one thousand attendees for religious services and maintains regular mass schedules throughout the liturgical calendar year.

Cardinal Francis Arinze from Nigeria led the consecration ceremony in December 2011, accompanied by two hundred priests and multiple bishops.
