Reichenspitze, Mountain summit in Zillertal Alps, Austria
The Reichenspitze rises to 3303 meters between Salzburg and Tyrol states, forming the highest point of the Reichenspitze Group mountain range.
A farmer from Prettau in Tauferer Ahrntal completed the first documented climb of Reichenspitze in 1856, marking the beginning of its mountaineering history.
The mountain stands as a central feature within the High Tauern National Park, connecting multiple Austrian communities through shared alpine traditions.
Three mountain huts provide access points for climbing: the Plauener Hut at 2373 meters, Richter Hut at 2374 meters, and Zittauer Hut at 2328 meters.
The east face near the summit presents technical climbing challenges rated at UIAA grade III, requiring specific mountaineering skills and equipment.
