Reichenspitze

Reichenspitze is a mountain summit in the Zillertal Alps located between Salzburg and Tyrol, standing at 3303 meters. Three mountain huts sit on surrounding slopes and serve as base points for people attempting to reach the top.

The first recorded climb took place in 1856 when a farmer from Prettau in Tauferer Ahrntal reached the summit. This early ascent marked the start of mountaineering activity on the peak.

The mountain serves as a landmark for the alpine region and shapes the landscape that people in surrounding valleys see every day. Visitors approaching from different routes can experience how this peak connects the communities and traditions of the mountain communities.

Climbing this peak requires mountain walking experience and some technical climbing ability, particularly on the eastern face below the summit. Visitors need proper equipment and should check weather conditions, since conditions at this altitude change rapidly.

The east-facing slopes below the summit offer challenging climbing passages that demand specific mountaineering skills from climbers. This section remains demanding for many hikers and requires more technical ability than the standard approach route.
