Edelweißspitze

The Edelweißspitze reaches an elevation of 2,572 meters and stands prominently within the Glockner Group of the High Tauern mountain range in Salzburg.

Before the construction of a parking area, this peak measured 2,577 meters and carried different names including Poneck, Leitenkogel, and Bergerkogel.

The summit serves as a connection point between the towns of Rauris and Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße, representing an important landmark for local communities.

Visitors access the summit through the Edelweißstraße, which branches from the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, making it the highest reachable point along this route.

The final section of the ascent features cobblestone paths with gradients exceeding 12 percent, creating an intense challenge for cyclists and motorists.
