The Kalser Tauernhaus sits at 1,755 meters elevation in the Inner Dorfertal Valley, surrounded by pine forests and alpine meadows below the Großglockner peak. It provides sleeping accommodations, showers, and self-catering facilities for mountaineers and hikers.

The hut sits directly on the Eagle Walk trail, a long-distance hiking route that crosses multiple Alpine valleys. From this location, visitors gain access to Dorfersee lake and views of the Granatspitz Mountains.
