Zar Cave, Archaeological cave site in Kalbajar District, Azerbaijan.
The natural cavern extends through limestone formations, featuring multiple chambers and passages at coordinates 40.005278°N 45.952222°E in southern Azerbaijan.
Archaeological excavations between 1981 and 1987 revealed evidence of Upper Paleolithic human settlements through cave paintings and primitive tools.
The discovery of flint knives, arrowheads, and bone combs within the cave demonstrates the technical capabilities of early human inhabitants.
Visitors need to obtain permits and coordinate with local authorities before exploring the cave system, as access remains restricted for preservation.
The cave contains milling boards with distinctive dents, indicating early agricultural practices similar to those found in nearby Tağlar Cave.
