Heliodrom camp, Detention center in Rodoč, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Heliodrom camp was a former military facility south of Mostar that operated as a detention center from September 1992 to April 1994. The installation consisted of multiple barracks and guard posts where several thousand people were held under custody.
The facility was established by the Military Police of the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia during the Bosnian War. It played a central role in the systematic imprisonment of Bosniaks, Serbs, and other non-Croatian civilians.
The site carries the name of the Heliodrom military complex and is now recognized as a memorial space. Visitors can observe the physical structures where detainees were confined under harsh conditions.
The site is difficult to access and requires preparation, as it is located in a rural area south of Mostar. It is advisable to check opening times and any necessary permits beforehand.
The International Criminal Tribunal documented that prisoners were forced to sing nationalist songs as part of psychological coercion. Such systematic humiliation counts among the lesser-known aspects of the camp experience.
