RAJUK Bhaban, Government building in Gulshan-1, Bangladesh
RAJUK Bhaban is a government administrative building in Gulshan that comprises two connected structures: a six-story main building and an eight-story annex joined by an overhead bridge. The complex houses the headquarters of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha, the primary authority responsible for urban development and planning in Dhaka.
The foundation stone was laid on December 10, 1956, by Pakistan Prime Minister H.S. Suhrawardy when it was originally called DIT Bhaban. The building arose during a period when the city was establishing its administrative infrastructure and modernizing its development framework.
The building housed the first television station in East Pakistan, which later transformed into Bangladesh Television and operated from this location until 1975.
The building stands out visually in the Gulshan area due to its distinctive two-tower design connected by an overhead bridge. Visitors should keep in mind that this is an active government headquarters, so access to interior spaces may be restricted.
The building's exterior is defined by numerous black columns that create a striking visual pattern across the facade. A large clock positioned on the upper section of the main structure serves as both a functional element and a notable visual marker of the complex.
