Bangladesh Maritime Museum

The Bangladesh Maritime Museum is a maritime museum in Chittagong housed in a historic building that once served the Bangladesh Marine Academy. The collections feature ship models, navigational tools, historical documents, and maritime artifacts from different periods.

The museum was established with support from a U.S.-based association of former academy graduates who proposed the idea to Bangladesh authorities. Its founding reflects the ongoing commitment of people with maritime connections to preserve their country's seafaring history.

The museum sits on Naval Avenue and is easy to reach by foot or local transport. It operates Saturday through Thursday, so plan your visit on a weekday or weekend day other than Friday.

Many of the displayed items were donated by diaspora members who wanted to preserve their connection to the sea and maritime heritage. These objects tell personal stories of people raised in seafaring traditions.
