American Theatre, Concert hall in Heysel, Belgium.
The American Theatre is a modern building complex in northern Brussels featuring three cylindrical structures. These sections house a theater, exhibition hall, and cinema integrated into one architectural design.
The building was designed by architect Edward Durell Stone and became a television studio for BRT after the World Fair. Broadcasting operations later moved to other locations as the facility evolved its various roles.
The venue served as a major hub for broadcast productions and live performances with audiences for many years. Shows created here reached large numbers of viewers until newer facilities opened elsewhere.
The complex is located in northern Brussels and accessible by public transportation. It is helpful to check specific opening hours beforehand since the facility serves multiple purposes and not all areas are open at all times.
A special section of the building was the Circarama area, which offered 360-degree film projections. This early form of immersive cinema gave Belgian audiences an unusual viewing experience that was entirely new at the time.
