Brussels Planetarium, Brutalist planetarium in Heysel, Belgium.

Brussels Planetarium is a planetarium in Laeken housed in a striking concrete dome structure designed in brutalist style. The dome spans roughly 23 meters across and uses advanced digital projections to display images of the night sky and cosmic phenomena on its interior surface.

The planetarium originated from a project by the Royal Observatory of Belgium and opened its doors in 1976. It was created as a facility to help the public learn about astronomy and space through direct experience.

The planetarium serves as a gathering space where people of all ages come to watch shows about space and discover what lies beyond Earth. Visitors sit together in the dark dome, experiencing the night sky as if they were floating in the universe themselves.

The building sits within the Heysel Park area and can be reached easily by public transport. Visitors should check ahead to see what shows are running, as programs change regularly throughout the year.

Some specialized workshops transform cosmic signals received from space into musical notes and sounds. This creative approach shows visitors how astronomy and art can come together in unexpected ways.
