Brussels Planetarium, Brutalist planetarium in Heysel, Belgium.

The Brussels Planetarium is a planetarium in the Laeken district of Brussels, housed in a concrete dome building designed in the brutalist style. Inside, a digital projection system displays the night sky and other astronomical phenomena across the curved ceiling surface.

The planetarium was established by the Royal Observatory of Belgium and opened in 1976. It was built to give the general public a direct way to experience astronomy at a time when such facilities were rare in Belgium.

The planetarium belongs to the Royal Observatory of Belgium, which gives it a scientific background that goes beyond a typical exhibition space. Visitors sit in reclining seats under the dome and watch shows aimed at both children and adults.

The building is located in the Heysel Park area and is easy to reach by public transport. Since the program changes regularly, it is worth checking what shows are available before your visit.

Some specialized workshops turn cosmic signals received from space into musical notes and sounds. These programs bring together astronomy and music in a way that many visitors do not expect when walking into a planetarium.
