Sint-Annabos

Sint-Annabos is a nature area in Antwerp with dense forest and open meadows near the Scheldt River. The terrain comprises interconnected woodland sections with natural clearings spread throughout the site.

The area served as a transit camp for American military personnel during the final stages of World War II. After the war ended, the land was placed under protection and has remained a nature reserve ever since.

Local residents use the area as a green refuge for walking and watching birds throughout the year. The open meadows alongside the dense forest create different habitats that visitors naturally explore and enjoy.

The area has multiple entrance points and parking facilities, particularly near Charles de Costerlaan and bus route 36. The walking paths are accessible year-round and easy to navigate, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace.

The woodland hosts a remarkable diversity of fungal species and provides nesting grounds for rare birds like the golden oriole. These ecosystems developed naturally over time, making the area a rewarding destination for nature observers.
