Church of Saint John the Evangelist

The Church of Saint John the Evangelist features a neoclassical design with an octagonal layout and incorporates elements from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Founded by Notker of Liège in 980, the church underwent complete reconstruction between 1754 and 1784 under architects Jacques-Barthélemy Renoz and Gaetano Matteo Pisoni.

The church holds significant religious artifacts, including a 13th-century Virgin and Child sculpture and an early 16th-century chalice made for a church canon.

The building serves as an active parish church since 1809 and maintains regular services while offering guided visits to explore its architectural elements.

The church established a library in 1388 and maintained connections with Renaissance composer Johannes Brassart, reflecting its role in education and music.
