Hôtel des Comtes de Méan

The Hôtel des Comtes de Méan is a private mansion in the Mont Saint-Martin district with a distinctive U-shaped layout and a core building dating from the 15th century. The facade displays various architectural styles added during different construction phases across several centuries.

The mansion originated in the 15th century and underwent transformations through renovations and extensions over the following centuries. It once formed part of a larger connected building complex before becoming a separate structure.

The name comes from the Counts of Méan, a noble family who occupied the residence for many generations. Walking through the rooms, visitors can still sense the presence of this aristocratic past.

The building is located on Rue du Mont Saint-Martin in Liège and now serves as a venue for meetings and events. Visitors should check ahead as it remains private property with limited public access.

Archaeological artifacts were uncovered during renovation work and are now displayed in a basement area called La Cave. These discoveries provide glimpses into the daily life of the building's earlier inhabitants.
