Sliven

Sliven is a city in eastern Bulgaria that spreads along the foothills of the Balkan Mountains where two rivers meet. Located at an elevation of about 300 meters, it is home to numerous factories that have long been known for textile production.

The city was first documented in 1153 by an Arab traveler, but the area had been inhabited much earlier by Thracians, Romans, and Slavs. These different peoples left their marks on this strategically located place along trade routes.

The Stefan Kirov Drama Theatre hosts regular performances that draw locals and visitors interested in the city's artistic life. Alongside this, regional museums display handcrafted items and everyday objects that tell the story of how people lived here over time.

The city is easy to explore on foot, with most sights concentrated in the center where you will also find cafés and local shops. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit, when the weather is mild and you can walk around without intense heat.

In the city center stands an ancient elm tree named Stariyat Briast that is over 1000 years old and serves as a living monument. This tree has witnessed centuries of history and draws visitors who want to understand the long past of this place.
