Kaliakra

The cliffs of Kaliakra extend 2 kilometers into the Black Sea, forming steep vertical walls that reach heights of 19 meters above the water.

The fortress of Kaliakra, established in the 4th century BC, served as a stronghold through Thracian, Roman, and Byzantine periods until the Ottoman conquest.

The medieval fortress complex contains remnants of fortified walls, water mains, baths, and religious structures that highlight the architectural methods of multiple civilizations.

Visitors can access the reserve through marked trails that lead to observation points for watching dolphins in the sea and various bird species.

The reserve houses over 310 bird species, with 100 endangered species finding refuge in the limestone cliffs and surrounding marine waters.
