Botanical garden, Balchik

The University Botanic Garden stretches across 19.4 hectares, featuring botanical collections with more than 4,900 plant species arranged on multiple terraces.

In 1955, academician professor Daki Yordanov established this garden as part of Sofia University, transforming the former summer residence of Romanian Queen Marie.

The garden combines three distinct sections: a landscape park from Queen Marie's era, an accessible garden for visitors with disabilities, and a protected natural area.

The garden opens daily from 8:00 to 20:00 in summer and 9:00 to 17:00 in winter, with admission fees of 12 BGN for adults and 5 BGN for students.

The garden houses Europe's second-largest cactus collection after Monaco, featuring specimens in stone beds carved from local Balchik rocks.
