Balchik

Balchik is a seaside resort that spreads across white limestone terraces along the Black Sea coast, with narrow beach strips nestled beneath steep cliffs. The town combines water-level beaches with elevated areas that overlook the sea from above.

The city was founded in the 6th century BCE by Thracians and grew into a major grain-shipping port during ancient times. It later transformed from a trading center into a tourist destination.

The palace complex blends Italian architectural influences with local building traditions, visible in its distinctive tower and waterfront structures that reflect how the place was imagined by its creator.

The place is well served by regular buses connecting nearby towns and the airport to the south, making it easy to reach without a car. Local taxis can take you to surrounding areas and attractions.

The botanical garden holds one of Europe's largest collections of cactus and succulent species, with rare varieties gathered from around the world. Many of these plants grow in open beds where visitors can observe them up close.
