Banderitsa hut, Mountain hut in Bansko Municipality, Bulgaria.
Banderitsa Hut is a three-story stone building situated at 1810 meters elevation beside the Banderitsa River, offering 95 beds in single, double, and multi-bed rooms. The structure includes a restaurant, central heating, electricity, and internal bathrooms for guest comfort.
The first organized mountain paths around the refuge began in 1934, marking the start of systematic climbing activities in the Pirin Mountains. These early routes shaped how mountaineering developed in the region for decades to come.
The refuge functions as a meeting point for people who use and explore the mountains. Visitors encounter climbers, hikers, and ski mountaineers from various backgrounds who share stories and experiences of their time in these peaks.
The refuge is best accessed in winter via marked ski routes and serves as a hiking base in summer months. Visitors should expect rapid weather changes due to the high elevation and pack accordingly with warm layers.
During winter, the refuge doubles as a ski base with direct access to several marked descent routes. This dual role as both a winter and summer destination keeps it well-visited throughout the year.
