Art Gallery Boris Georgiev, Art museum in central Varna, Bulgaria.
The Boris Georgiev Art Gallery occupies a neo-Gothic building with ten exhibition halls offering roughly 1,200 square meters of display space. The rooms are arranged so visitors can walk through different artistic periods and styles within Bulgarian art history.
The building was founded in 1885 as a school for boys and served that purpose for over a century. In 1988 it was converted into an art gallery and received its current name in 1999 to honor Bulgarian artist Boris Georgiev.
The collection features works by Bulgarian artists from the early 20th century, shaping how people understand the country's modern art history. Visitors encounter names like Vladimir Dimitrov and Ivan Milev here, artists who are less known internationally but deeply important in the local art world.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with free admission on Thursdays. The building sits in central Varna and is easy to reach by public transport or on foot.
The third floor houses a hall with superior acoustics that hosts chamber concerts during the Varna Summer International Music Festival. This unusual use of gallery space shows how the building supports different art forms simultaneously.
