Skobelev Park

Skobelev Park is an urban park and war memorial in Pleven's valley featuring military exhibits, memorial sites, and walking paths through green spaces. The grounds display Russian cannons arranged in battery formations and house the Pleven Panorama museum, where visitors can learn more about the siege.

The park was established in 1904 on the site of the 1877 siege, where General Mikhail Skobelev led Russian forces against a fortified city. The battle became one of the most significant events of the Russo-Turkish War and influenced European military history.

The park honors fallen soldiers through nine communal graves and an ossuary holding remains of thousands from the conflict of 1877. These burial sites shape the place as a memorial where visitors can sense the weight of history.
