Pleven Regional Historical Museum

The Regional Historical Museum occupies a two-story building of 7,000 square meters near the center of Pleven, displaying 5,000 artifacts across 24 exhibition halls.

Founded in 1953, the museum originated from an Archaeological Society established in 1903 that conducted the first excavations of the Roman fortress Storgosia.

The museum departments cover archaeology, Bulgarian history, ethnography, and natural sciences, presenting the development of the Pleven region through different historical periods.

The museum operates from 9:00 to 17:30 during winter months and 9:30 to 18:00 in summer, with a midday break between 12:00 and 12:30.

The numismatic collection contains 25,000 coins, making it one of the largest collections of ancient and medieval currency in Bulgaria.
