Pomorie Monastery

The monastery complex includes a church built in 1856, a tall bell tower from 1966, and multiple buildings arranged around an inner courtyard.

Greek settlers established the original monastery in the seventh century, though it faced destruction during the Ottoman period before being rebuilt in later centuries.

The monastery holds numerous religious artifacts, including a collection of eighteenth and nineteenth century icons painted by regional artists.

Visitors can access the monastery grounds daily, with special celebrations and services taking place each year on May 6 during Saint George Day.

The monastery houses a marble relief depicting Saint George and contains a natural spring that, according to local accounts, possesses healing properties.
