Dacon Building

The Dacon Building is an office tower in the Jardim Europa district featuring a cylindrical form and an entirely green glass-covered exterior. The 96-meter-tall structure holds 22 floors with a total of 132 office spaces, four elevators, central air conditioning, and 198 parking spaces for tenants.

Architect Ricardo Julião designed the building in 1981 as headquarters for Dacon, a Volkswagen and Porsche dealership network operating in Brazil. The completion introduced a new direction in how the city's skyscrapers were built, particularly in the use of full glass facades.

The transparent glass exterior has shaped how people in the city perceive modern office design, standing apart from earlier concrete and stone buildings in the area. Passersby notice how the facade changes appearance throughout the day, reflecting the sky and surrounding cityscape in different ways.

The tower is easily recognizable from the street and sits in a well-connected area with restaurants and shops nearby. The cylindrical shape and green glass facade make it straightforward to identify and navigate around the building, and the neighborhood is comfortable for walking.

Between 1989 and 1990, the building's upper floors served as a filming location for the television series Cortina de Vidro, bringing media attention to this architectural landmark. This role in broadcasting helped establish the structure as a recognizable part of the city's visual landscape.
