This designated arts district spans Ville-Marie borough and includes over 80 performance venues and creative spaces dedicated to music, theater, dance, opera, and contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year.

The neighborhood originated on the site of Montreal's former Red Light district in the early 19th century and evolved into a theater and cinema hub during the late 1800s.

The district hosts more than 40 annual festivals including the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Just for Laughs comedy festival, Nuits d'Afrique, and Montreal en Lumiere winter celebration throughout all seasons.

Visitors can access the district via three metro stations and multiple bus lines, with nearby accommodation options ranging from boutique hotels like HoneyRose to budget hostels strategically located throughout the area.

The LUMINO light festival held each December features spectacular light installations and artistic displays that illuminate the entire neighborhood and draw large audiences from around the world to experience this seasonal event.
