Beamer Memorial Conservation Area

Beamer Memorial Conservation Area sits on the Niagara Escarpment and features multiple hiking trails with views of Lake Ontario and the Forty Mile Creek Valley below. The paths wind through different terrain and connect various natural features throughout the protected landscape.

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority acquired this land in 1964 to protect the Niagara Escarpment and Forty Creek valley system. This action preserved the natural features that define the area today.

The Niagara Peninsula Hawkwatch organization conducts daily bird counts from March through May, documenting the migration patterns of various raptor species.

The main viewing platform closes from late February to mid-May for monitoring purposes, while other trails remain open from sunrise to sunset. Wear appropriate footwear and expect changing conditions on the paths.

Each spring, birders use this location to track the migration of raptors, eagles, and vultures passing through the region. The site sits on a major route traveled by thousands of these birds during their annual journey.
