The Art Gallery of Hamilton encompasses 75,000 square feet of exhibition space, displaying over 10,000 works from Canadian and international artists.
Founded in 1914 as the Municipal Gallery of Hamilton, the institution started with 33 artworks and moved to its current brutalist building in 1977.
The gallery stands on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, presenting exhibitions that reflect diverse artistic perspectives.
Visitors can participate in guided tours every Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 pm, with additional free tours available on Thursdays at 6:30 pm.
The Muriel Bostwick Library within the gallery maintains extensive documentation about the permanent collection and past exhibitions for research purposes.
