Ellen Fairclough Building, Provincial government building in Hamilton, Canada.
Ellen Fairclough Building is a 20-story office tower located at the corner of King Street West and MacNab Street South in Hamilton. The 94-meter structure houses provincial government offices, a courthouse, citizenship services, and immigration facilities across multiple floors.
The building was completed in 1981 and named after Ellen Fairclough in 1982, honoring the first female Cabinet minister in Canadian history. The naming acknowledged her significant role in the country's political development and government service.
The first three levels connect to the Art Gallery of Hamilton and FirstOntario Concert Hall, forming a central governmental and cultural complex.
A covered bridge connects the building directly to Jackson Square, where you will find shops and additional facilities within walking distance. The central location makes it easy to explore the surrounding downtown area on foot.
The lower levels connect seamlessly to the Art Gallery of Hamilton and FirstOntario Concert Hall, weaving together government functions with cultural spaces. This integration allows visitors to access multiple venues without leaving the complex.
