Assumption Place, Office building in Moncton, Canada

Assumption Place is a 20-storey office tower at 770 Main Street in downtown Moncton, New Brunswick. Completed in 1972, it rises 80.8 metres and serves as the headquarters of Assumption Life. It shares the title of tallest office building in New Brunswick with Brunswick Square in Saint John.

Moncton approved Assumption Place in 1970, and the tower was built in 1972 to 80.8 metres over 20 storeys. NBTel calculated that it would block radio signals from its 135 ft downtown tower, which led to construction of the NBTel Tower, now the Bell Aliant Tower. It should not be confused with the former Assumption Building at 236 St George Street, built in 1955 and now Maison Commerce House.

The tower is the headquarters of Assumption Life, the insurer whose name it carries; the French name, Place l'Assomption Vie, uses the company's own form. The company's offices occupy the building on Main Street, and the name distinguishes it from the former Assumption Building of 1955 at 236 St George Street, now Maison Commerce House.

The building is easily accessible in downtown Moncton along Main Street where you can view it from street level. The surrounding area offers shops and local services that make it convenient to explore the neighborhood.

When Moncton approved the tower in 1970, NBTel calculated that it would rise high enough to block radio signals from its 135 ft (41 m) downtown tower. NBTel therefore built a taller transmission tower, now the Bell Aliant Tower. Assumption Place is also not the 1955 Assumption Building at 236 St George Street, now Maison Commerce House.
