7th Toronto Regiment, RCA, Artillery regiment in Toronto, Canada.
The 7th Toronto Regiment, RCA, is an artillery unit of the Canadian Armed Forces based at Moss Park Armoury on Queen Street East in Toronto. It is organized into three batteries, covering howitzer operations, urban search and rescue, and headquarters functions.
The regiment traces its origins to the Volunteer Incorporated Artillery Company, formed in 1813, making it one of the oldest artillery units in Canada. It took part in several conflicts, from the Upper Canada Rebellion through both World Wars.
The regiment is known in the city for its role in urban search and rescue, which sets it apart from purely military units. At public events, visitors can see how soldiers combine civilian emergency skills with military training.
Moss Park Armoury sits in downtown Toronto and is easy to reach on foot or by public transit. Anyone wanting to visit or attend an event should contact the regiment directly beforehand to check availability.
Although it is a reserve unit, the regiment holds a certification for urban search and rescue, a capability not normally associated with artillery. This allows the unit to be called upon during civilian emergencies alongside its traditional military role.
