Walnut Hall, Georgian terrace of houses in Toronto, Canada
Walnut Hall was a Georgian-era row of townhouses on Shuter Street with a symmetrical facade of buff brick, stone details, and decorative brickwork spanning three and a half stories. The group displayed characteristic features of that architectural period with carefully crafted windows and elaborate masonry ornamentation.
The row of houses was built in 1856 originally as O'Donohoe Row and later became known as Walnut Hall. It remained one of the last complete rows of 19th-century Georgian townhouses in Toronto until its demolition in 2007.
The structure appeared in the 2004 film Cinderella Man, representing a 1930s New York City street scene before its eventual demolition.
The building was located on Shuter Street in the downtown core and was used multiple times as a filming location for movies and television productions. If you are interested in Toronto's historic architecture, you can find information about similar preserved Georgian houses in nearby neighborhoods.
The row was used in the 2004 film Cinderella Man to portray a 1930s New York City street. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police acquired the property in the 1970s as part of plans for their Ontario Division headquarters.
