Camp Pathfinder

Camp Pathfinder is a boys summer camp located on Source Lake in Algonquin Park that welcomes young people aged 7 to 16. Accommodations consist of platform tents, and the operation intentionally excludes technology from the experience.

Founded in 1914 as an outdoor education center, this camp shifted over time toward wilderness training and expeditionary activities. The focus on outdoor skills became central to its mission over the following decades.

Counselors at this camp are mostly former campers who teach wilderness skills and traditions to new arrivals, creating a strong connection between generations. This continuity shapes how the place feels and what young people learn from one another.

Registration opens each September for programs of varying lengths throughout the summer. The camp operates only during the summer season and is located in a remote forest area, so plan accordingly.

Participants take extended canoe trips through Algonquin Park where they learn navigation and camping techniques on the water. These journeys teach young people how to read the landscape and move confidently through wilderness.
