Hockley Highlands Inn, Former conference center in Mono, Ontario
Hockley Highlands Inn is a former conference center comprised of five main buildings nestled across 200 acres of forested land on the east side of 3rd Line Road. The site combines administrative structures with residential facilities set within a natural landscape of mixed woodlands.
Ontario Hydro built the site in the 1960s as Glen Cross Conference and Training Centre before Goldman Hotels Inc. purchased it in the late 1990s. A decade later, the Church of Scientology Canada acquired the property in 2009 with development plans.
Theatre Orangeville utilized 5,000 square feet of the inn's space between 2003 and 2007 for set design, prop storage, and rehearsal activities.
The property is crossed by two marked hiking trails including the Bruce Trail and Peter Beecham Side Trail, offering visitors multiple routes through the landscape. Visitors should prepare for varying terrain and bring appropriate footwear when exploring this Escarpment region.
Theatre Orangeville occupied approximately 5000 square feet of space between 2003 and 2007 for set design, prop storage, and rehearsals. This temporary artistic use demonstrates how the property supported different community activities before changing its purpose.
