Knox Mountain Park, Protected area in Kelowna, Canada.
Knox Mountain Park is a protected area on the edge of Kelowna, in British Columbia, Canada, with a network of trails across natural hillside terrain. The trails lead to open viewpoints looking out over Okanagan Lake and the city below.
The land originally belonged to Arthur Booth Knox, a rancher who sold it in 1906 to the Okanagan Fruit and Land Company. It was later transferred to public ownership and set aside for recreation.
The park's name comes from Arthur Booth Knox, a rancher who owned the land in the 1800s. The sunny slopes were a traditional gathering place for First Nations people who collected plants used in daily life.
The trails vary in difficulty and are open to a wide range of visitors, from families to more experienced hikers. On weekends and warm days, arriving early in the morning is a good idea since parking can fill up quickly.
Each year, a hillclimb car race takes place on the paved road that winds up the mountain, making it one of North America's longest-running events of its kind. Drivers and spectators travel from across the region to take part.
